This is a picture of my 2012 garden. Pretty, huh? I love zinnias! Everything in my garden loved the heat this summer. As long as you watered weekly, everything grew well. Including the weeds, which have now taken over in some places. But o well, summer is almost over - no frost at my house yet - and it is the time to really enjoy all the goodies.
Right now I have tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onions, potatoes, winter squash, cantaloup, watermelon, raspberries, a few really ripe ears of corn, cucumbers, beets, swiss chard, and turnips. The hens ate all my cabbage family plants, so I will need to get those at the farmers market. I am busy canning salsa, peach jams, spaghetti sauce, and carrots. I roasted a batch of tomatoes with onions and peppers, blended it all up, added a few spices, and it was terrific pizza sauce. I will freeze tomatoes, peppers, cooked squash, and applesauce. I could can those items instead of freezing them, but I start to run out of canning jars and time. The potatoes, onions, and squash will end up in the cellar. Some years they last until March or April!!
Stop by every week to check in on what's going on.
