My oldest daughter was born today in 1982...wow where has that time gone? Having children really makes one think about providing good nutrition. Even though it is harder to get kids to eat veggies than lunchables, it is soo worth the effort. Now my daughter has kids of her own, and she is working hard to provide good meals and boundaries (like no Fast Food) for her kids. There is no greater job than raising the next generation!
One of the really good nutritional things to do is juice your veggies. Here is a picture of my "Green Drink" after juicing. YUM
Since the weather has been Springy lately, I got busy and ordered seeds - you know that seed catalogs are Plant Porn for us gardeners! It is about 10 weeks until our last frost date in this area, so I have planted some seeds in the greenhouse to be planted outside later. All the cabbage family: cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc. can be started now as they are cool weather plants that can go into the garden first. Tomatoes and peppers can be started now, but they will go in after the weather warms up. I am trying celery for the first time ever - it is so fun to try something new every year. I started a bunch of asparagus from seed for the first time too. They are doing really well, and I will move them outside as soon as the asparagus in the garden start to come up. It will take 2 full years before my new seeding will be edible, but won't all that asparagus be heavenly?? If you haven't tried fresh asparagus quick steamed or stir fried straight from the garden, you haven't lived!
